Hi everyone,
Sorry about the delay getting this sent out. Below are my brief notes
from the UCLC instrumentation meeting earlier today. They are almost
certainly incomplete, so please feel free to send me changes and
additions. When everyone has "spoken" these notes will become minutes
as well as a draft list of projects to include in the NSF proposal.
It was decided that we should assemble a list of instrumentation R&D
projects that people are interested in working on and writing about in
the fall proposal. To the best of my recollection, this is reproduced
below:
CESR-c damping ring simulation & diagnostics (Mark Palmer, Dave Rubin,
Joe Rogers, Don Hartill) - simulations/modeling to figure out what to
measure - instrumentation to be designed based on these simulations
Other (possibly related) Accelerator Simulation (Ritchie Patterson) -
damping ring (with above group) - source to dump simulation
Beam Size Monitoring (Steven Csorna, Jesse Ernst, Don Hartill, Klaus
Honscheid) - synchrotron radiation interference spectra (work already
started) - laser-wire project (lots of interest here but this needs to
be fleshed out) - beam size from transition radiation. - possible
connection with pulsed electron source project at Vanderbilt
Jim Alexander will do some homework and decide where to direct his
efforts, with the intent of preparing a brief presentation in time for
the Santa Cruz meeting in a month.
The following people are going to Santa Cruz and are planning to prepare
brief presentations: Joe Rogers, Steven Csorna, Ritchie Patterson, Jim
Alexander
The following people may be going to Santa Cruz (and, if they do, are
probably willing to prepare brief presentations): Jesse Ernst, Klaus
Honscheid
Please send me any corrections/additions you think are needed. Once this
is finished I will send it to the other interested people as well. If
you feel any names are missing from the above list, please let me know
that too.
Mats
