REU Project: Test Stand for Superconducting RF cavity electronics Sergey Belomestnykh Skills: Programming skills and interest in electronics are desired, but not essential. Electronic PC cards are used to measure various signals on four superconducting cavity cryomodules currently installed in CESR. Examples of monitored/measured signals: cryogenic temperatures inside the cryomodule measured with CLTS sensors, beam pipe temperatures measured with thermocouples, cooling water flow. An existing test set-up for checking PC boards is somewhat inconvenient and requires many extra connections. We plan to design a new test stand with computerized controls and measurements. The design will involve using OrCAD and LabView software.
