Lattice: ~dlr/bmad_devel/single_wig/bmad_1885mev_1wig_s2.lat
Second iteration of single wiggler lattice. Wiggler at 14e.
Optics and orbits based on fitted wiggler fields
(wiggler transfer function)
Differences in beta and alpha at IP and in emittance and partition
numbers minimized. (Note that I just discovered that the wiggler map
gives a 50microradian kick for the on axis beam. A new lattice
called ~dlr/bmad_devel/single_wig/bmad_1885mev_1wig_s4.lat has the
kick compensated.)
Some design strategy used to create the s2 optics:
- All quads 3-30 are varied independently east and west.
- All quads 30-49 are east west symmetric
- IR is always east west symmetric
- Separators at 45 are east west symmetric, those at 8 are not
- The initial quad optimization was done with east west symmetric
sextupoles
- An attempt to include sextupoles along with the quads in the
optimization, allowing those south of about 20 to be asymmetric
was not particularly successful. The linear parameters improved but
the dynamic aperture was not good.
- The apparently more successful strategy was to optimize sextupoles
independently according to the standard procedure. This time the
constraint on east west symmetry was relaxed. Then return to
quad optimization and iterate.
