ADSC Cheat Sheet
ADX CCD control software
The Quantum 1 and Quantum 4 detectors are run by the ADX software.
-
to start the package: start_ccd
-
a menu window "ADX" appears: SETUP / STOP / DISPLAY / PROCESS / EXIT
-
SETUP: manual control (see below) /
snapshot (see below) / (irrelevant items)
-
STOP: immediately /
after
current image (self-explanatory)
-
DISPLAY: status (opens "ADX-Status" window) / image (display
current
or some previous image)
-
PROCESS: process crystallography data (irrelevant for SAXS)
-
EXIT
-
manual control
-
operate shutter manually for line-up: SETUP > manual control >
shutter
> open/close
-
snapshot
-
a new window "ADX snapshot" appears:
-
set directory to your user directory
-
set filename (it has to end in nnn, e.g. test_002.img)
-
set distance sample-detector
-
set Df to 0
-
choose an exposure time in seconds (1 sec and up)
-
ADC: slow (default)
-
Collect new dark current
-
take at least one dark image for each new exposure time
-
bug: you have to click first on "no", then on "yes" for the program to
accept the click
-
Dezinger: no (interesting for exposures longer than 30 sec)
-
take snap
-
check on the "ADX-status" window whether the shutter opens
-
the image will appear in the image window, after the detector is read
out
(about 10sec)
-
simple image handling with "Adxv Control":
-
scaling is only linear; min and max rage can be chosen in the image
control
window
-
color schemes: grey scale and various color schemes (heat, rainbow) can
be chosen
-
pixel numbers: by positioning the mouse on a spot in the image, pixel
number
and intensity are displayed
-
slices: if you drag the mouse across the image, a slice will be shown
in
a separate graphics window
-
calibration
-
click "Edit > Settings" to open the manual calibration window
-
check values for distance, pixel size, and wave length
-
determine the beam center from the pixel coordinates in the image window
-
when you click on a point in the image window, the correct d-spacing of
the feature will be displayed
-
more sophisticated image handling can be performed with "fit2d" (see
below)
or "TVX" (not yet available).
