³³Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. The expression is used as a designation of the beginning and the end, cf. the words of the Apocalypse: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, says the Lord” (Rev 1:8); “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last” (Rev 1:11).
