⁶Cosmogenesis (Greek: “birth, origin of the world”) is the emergence of the Universe and any model of it in religion and science; Christian cosmogenesis is based on the opening chapters of Genesis, the so-called Hexaemeron or the Six Days. Contrary to a common misconception, the Hexaemeron cannot conflict with scientific theories, if only because it describes the creation of the world from a point of view not amenable to strict scientific analysis.
