48The first “Noah’s” commandment (Gen 9:4) prohibits the use of blood for food (and therefore strangled meat, i.e., the meat of an animal in which blood remains after its death). In full, the so-called Noah’s commandments included seven prohibitions: 1) idolatry, 2) blasphemy, 3) vilification of the lawful authority in the community, 4) murder, 5) incest and fornication, 6) robbery, 7) eating blood.[75,76] St. James limited himself to only three, since the remaining ones followed from biblical ethics in general.
