The following diversity program was developed as part of my Wood Badge Ticket [Troop 1 of Gilwell Council, Fox Patrol C-22-01] and presented to Pack 59 on March 18, 2002. It is to be presented to any size group, of cub scouts, boy scouts or any type of patriotic group. The props are limited and the narrator can either be the adult or the scouts could perform the entire ceremony. In order to be most effective, "diversity" material of some type should be available for distribution. In my case, I chose material I found on the web regarding the contributions made by diverse cultures in creating Kansas and our present day society. It was presented indoors but with some creative thinking, it could be presented outside.

IGNORING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF OUR MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY
FALSELY REFLECTS IT AS WELL
CONSIDER THE CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR NATION BY:
AND THE OTHER FAITHS.
OR ANY SHADE IN BETWEEN.
ALL MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO IT
INCREASED OUR WEALTH.
AND DIED FOR IT.
ALL ASPECTS OF OUR SOCIETY HAVE SUFFERED AND ENDURED
REMEMBER, NO GROUP HAS EVER HAD A MONOPOLY
AND ALL SHADES IN BETWEEN.
OUR FUTURE IS IN YOUR HAND, WHAT WILL IT BE
LOOK AT THE FLAG OF OUR COUNTRY
ITS VARIED SHAPES: THE SOLIDS, THE STARS AND THE STRIPES
ITS VARIED COLORS: THE RED, THE WHITE AND THE BLUE
ACCURATELY REFLECT THE DIVERSE NATURE OF OUR SOCIETY
LONG MAY IT WAVE IN PEACE AND HARMONY.
(lights go out again and American Flag is illuminated by single spot
CONSIDER CAREFULLY THE FLAG OF
THE UNITED STATES
End of program, have diversity material ready to hand out.
