Mark works in the areas of Cosmology and Astrophysics. His ongoing collaboration with Henry and Ira Wasserman is chiefly focused on the nature and observability of the Cosmic String network left behind by Brane Inflation. His present work is concerned with using the most up-to-date cosmological data (from the WMAP satellite and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey) to constrain the contribution that such a Cosmic String network could make to the formation of structure in the Universe. He is also interested in exploring how Braneworld Cosmic Strings and their networks may be distinguished from classical GUT and Abelian Higgs String models.
