Sash primarily studies the formation of cosmic strings after brane inflation, specifically the phenomenology of cosmic strings – possible observational signatures.  He also investigates the cosmic landscape of vacua in string theory, which is the study of the minima of potentials of the various string theories.  These minima, or vacua, determine the values of the fundamental physical parameters of our universe.  In particular, he works on the relation of the cosmic landscape to inflation and the question of initial condition.
