NOMAD-STAR project
During 2/98-2/99 period of time I was involved in NOMAD-STAR
project at CERN,
Switzerland. My responsibility was system administration, Web-support,
automatic data transfering, software development (batch & graphics,
on-line & off-line).
System administration:
Farm of Linux RedHat 4.2 PCs was used for production. Installation, support of
NOMAD software was one of my responsibilities. Software transfering,
troubleshooting, debugging was orginized among OSF/1 main cluster and RedHat
farm. Client support for Linux machine was established (setup of environment,
library support, graphics).
Web-support:
Automatic update of internal NOMAD-STAR
Web-site was performed during full period of time. Update of new data samples,
new software, access to internal data base were established.
Automatic data transfering:
During whole year the huge amount of data were transfered between DLT robot
storage farm and local clients. Approximately 20 Gb/day were analysed, sorted
and transfered (example of source code).
Software development:
I was the head of the software development group for NOMAD-STAR (Silicon
TARget) experiment. I was developed the off-line and on-line software, data
decoding and reconstruction program. [see, NOMAD Reconstruction Software:
Si-package v8r2]. The main part of Si-package was the reconstruction program.
It was based on object-oriented approach describing physics conceptions, for
instance (hit, track, etc.), as an different objects. More than 16k lines of
the code were written in C, using Ci interpreter and OnX (motif based
graphical package) for interactive event
display. The Tcl/Tk was used for installation
procedure. Client tool had the following view:
The code can be found here.
The automatic data transfering was established for each day. Data were
transfered from DLT tapes to local stage area, sorted, filtered and stored for
clients (source code).
