Purpose

This meeting is the second of two organizational workshops for the University Consortium for Linear Collider R&D (UCLC). The goals of the first workshop on April 19th were to identify participants and their areas of interest and to help newcomers identify specific projects. At the second, on June 30th, we will expect participants to present preliminary R&D plans. Research Coordinators are keeping track of projects within each major R&D area, are helping participants identify projects, and will coordinate writing of their section of the proposal. If you are interested in joining the consortium and have not already done so, please contact the Research Coordinators in your area of interest. We are aiming for preparation of a white paper describing our plans and submission of a proposal to NSF in September.

The meeting will take place on the campus of the University of California, Santa Cruz on Sunday, June 30th, 2002. It immediately follows the Santa Cruz Linear Collider Retreat that will take place on June 27th - 29th.

Note there are other meetings aimed at helping people get involved in LC R&D. One was at Fermilab on April 5th, Research and Development Opportunities for the Linear Collider , and there will be another at SLAC on May 31st, Linear Collider R&D Opportunities Workshop. We are working closely with the organizers of the Fermilab and SLAC meetings and expect that the three groups will remain in close contact.

Banquet

There will be a UCLC Banquet on Saturday, June 29th at Carniglia's on the Santa Cruz wharf. A reception will start at 6:45, with dinner to follow at 7:30. Cost is $50 per person, and bus service will be available from campus. This will be a great chance to get to know each other. Please sign-up by June 20.
