Project 1: Beam-breakup instability in superconducting accelerators (Work with Georg Hoffstaetter, Chris Mayes)
Project 2: Ion trapping in accelerated beams (Work with Georg Hoffstaetter, Steve Full)
Project 3: Modern Electropolishing of superconducting cavities (Work with Fumio Furuta)
Project 4: Plasma cleaning of a SRF cavity (Work with Mingqi Ge)
Student will develop or continue to develop the plasma cleaning system. The work will involve the development and commissioning of microwave system, vacuum system, magnets, etc. It requires the related knowledge as well as mechanical design, machining. This project is suitable for Co-op program.
Project 5: Advanced high resolution temperature mapping for SRF cavities (Work with Matthias Liepe )
Student will participate in development and commissioning of new large scale temperature mapping system for single-cell SRF cavities. This work will involve working with advanced electronics for data acquisition, programming, and cryogenic testing of SRF cavities.
Project 6: Field dependence of the BCS surface resistance of superconductors (Work with Matthias Liepe )
Student will develop simulation codes based on recent theoretical models on the field dependence of the BCS surface resistance.
