Cornell High-Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS), where students in a variety of disciplines work with with CHESS staff to develop state-of-the-art instrumentation in support of scientific research in biology, chemistry, engineering, materials science, and physics. Students in particle and astrophysics work on the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, the muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab, and at the Atacama Cosmology Telescope, and develop theory for general relativity, LHC phenomenology, and the early universe. Cornell's unique, collaborative culture has been honed by decades of experience operating large-scale national facilities that serve photon science, accelerator physics, and particle and astrophysics. At CLASSE, students make significant contributions to our cutting-edge research in photon science, accelerator physics, and particle and astrophysics.
