The original Gauge Couplings United football team plays at Stanford/SLAC. We have graciously been allowed to follow in their footsteps according to the following charter:
Hi Flip,
I will grant you permission to use the name or a variant of for one full semester. After that renewal of rights to the name shall depend on your performance this fall: we want to ensure that the name Gauge Coupling United continues to keep its good reputation since we regularly make it to the playoffs and we expect a licensee to abide by such standards.

Game Summaries
- 20 September, 0-1 loss vs HKSA. (Record: 1-1-0) Gauge Coupling United suffered its first loss against the Hong Kong Student Association. The team gave a valiant effort despite being undermanned with Frank, Bibhushan, Josh, and David leading the offense and Naresh, Ted, Flip, and Maxim (keeper) holding down the defense. HKSA came out playing aggressively and the were called for several fouls, but the winning goal came off of what gauge coupling fans considered a questionable non-call after several thwarted attacks. "We were a bit unlucky," said keeper Maxim after the game. Nonetheless, the gauge couplers played valiantly. Without any subs, Bibhushan, Josh, and Flip shook off in-game injuries and were awarded purple quarks (like a purple heart... get it?). Ted played the whole game despite having just played a game the previous hour. The team looks forward to bouncing back in the next game; come join us!
- 13 September, 5-0 win vs ChemBeasts Recreational. (Record: 1-0-0) Gauge Couplings United FC started its season with a resounding 5-0 win against ChemBeasts Recreational. Frank (3 goals) and Bibhushan (2 goals, 3 assists) led a solid effort despite the loss of Javi (injury), Mario (sold to the water polo team). First-year Jorge (forward) and fifth-year Maxim (keeper) also had strong performances as the team took took control of the game in the second half. Forwards David and Ted played aggressively throughout and Josh, Naresh (captain), and Yuhsin rounded out the fifth-year effort while Flip managed to do somersaults to celebrate the team's goals.
- 6 September, rescheduled. (Record: 0-0-0) No game due to flooding. Bibhushan is disappointed. Flip and Yuhsin do work instead.
