Details for access to the different wireless networks: late-breaking updates (7/11/03)!
- Sage classroom wireless network: For the duration of the workshop, the access
points for this network will broadcat the network name ("JGSM"). Contrary to instructions in your
registration packet, you will NOT need to "log in" using your browser via "captive portal" page. You should
gain access via DHCP once you connect to the "JGSM" network.
One note: as this is a beta system, it may occasionally hiccup,
resulting in approximately five minute outages. Please have patience.
- Cornell's Red Rover network - supplanted: For the duration of the workshop, the Olin
venues will have outposts of the JGSM network rather than Cornell's closed-access Red Rover.
The remainder of Cornell's Red Rover sites will remain restricted access (see below if you might wish to
be registered during the workshop).
- Sage atrium wireless network: This is an open network in a public space, and as such, the access points do not broadcast the network name. You will be provided with the name of the network in your registration packet, but we cannot publish it on the web.
Alternatives for internet access:
- Sage classroom ethernet network: Update: 7/11/03: The parallel session rooms are equipped
with 10/100baseT ethernet jacks. Network access will be open, with no registration of your ethernet
MAC required. IP addresses will be served via DHCP.
- General Red Rover access: The remainder of Cornell's Red Rover sites
will require registration for access to the internet. Again, for those interested, we
can pregister any participants who may wish broader access. Please contact
Lawrence Gibbons with your
laptop's 802.11b MAC address if you wish to be registered.
Please visit Cornell's Red Rover site for
further details.
Computer Room
Terminals, ethernet connections and printers will be available in Olin 145
from 8AM to 10PM each day.
