Dynamics of Polarized Beams

The changes required for accelerating and storing polarized beams in the proton accelerators at DESY were investigated. For these studies the particle and spin dynamics program SPRINT was developed. The basis of this program is the "stroboscopic average", which is used to compute invariant subsets of the coupled spin and orbit dynamics. These invariants limit the polarization in a proton beam at HERA.
